Louise is a counsellor who understands how helpful counselling can be through personal experience. She had short-term counselling to help her through some crisis points and long-term counselling to find out more about herself and to explore feelings and behaviours. She feels it has helped her process loss, helped her in relationships, helped with self-esteem and has enabled her confidence to grow and to feel she has worth for who she is.
This experience, as well as experience working in pastoral support in a college, helped lead her to counselling training later in life. It was the best decision for her and she loves being able to use her knowledge, life experience and training to help others on their journey.
Louise has a great love of nature and believes in the benefits of being outside, green spaces and connection to the natural world. She has been seeing clients outside since June 2020 for ‘Walk and Talk’ sessions and has witnessed the benefits to them. She has chosen to use the garden room at the Wellness Centre so clients have the option to walk around and go outside in a safe and confidential space.
Her main training and core way of working is person-centred; client-led and adapting to each unique person. She brings other ways of working as she feels will be helpful, but the client is at the heart of all she does.
Louise has worked with adults in a range of ages, genders and sexual orientations and is particularly experienced in helping those who need to boost self-esteem and self-confidence, overcome anxiety, communicate better and set boundaries in their relationships.
Louise has a passion to help people gain the confidence to be truly themselves. To be open with their thoughts and feelings without the need to worry about the expectations of others, or what they ‘should’ be doing or feeling. She can help people learn to know what it is they actually want and be able to say ‘”no” when needed.
She believes in people; that they can learn to love themselves and find acceptance of self and others.
Louise is a registered member of BACP and works with adults.
