Hypnotherapy
What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a very pleasant state of relaxation, which individuals allow themselves to enter so that desired, beneficial suggestions may be given directly to the part of the mind known as the subconscious. Under hypnosis, the conscious, rational part of the brain is temporarily bypassed, making the subconscious part, which influences mental and physical functions, receptive to therapy, therefore hypnotherapy. During hypnosis there is heightened concentration for the specific purpose of maximising potential, changing limiting beliefs and behaviours and gaining insight and wisdom.
Hypnosis is an entirely natural phenomenon, similar to meditation, day dreaming, being absorbed in a book or music or television, driving and arriving at your destination without recalling all the usual landmarks etc. You remain in control throughout the hypnotherapy session.
How does Hypnotherapy work?
The subconscious mind is the source of many of our problems and self-images. Our beliefs, habits and behaviours are stored as information. The subconscious is a tremendous reservoir of our unrecognised strengths and knowledge.
Hypnosis is a natural and effective technique for accessing the subconscious mind – the key to unleashing our potential, changing our unwanted habits and behaviours and finding solutions to our problems and concerns.
The goal of Hypnotherapy is to create change at the subconscious level, which means bypassing the conscious mind to enable effective and lasting deep change easily.

Remedial Hypnosis
Remedial Hypnosis is not only ‘a lie back and relax’ style of hypnotherapy, some of the methods are more direct or interactive:
A technique called The Swan which is achieving growing worldwide acclaim pioneered by Hypnotherapist and entertainer Bob Burns may be used. This method is designed to communicate directly with the subconscious (bypassing the conscious mind) by setting up subconscious hand signals to answer questions Yes & No. This is a powerful method for finding the root cause of issues and obtaining subconscious agreement to do things differently.
Another technique is direct hypnotic suggestion to achieve change. This is based on the same psychology as stage hypnosis although the therapist promises not to do anything too daft with you (unless you ask nicely). This is based on your ability to experience the imagined as real and is another form of communication directly with the subconscious mind.
The therapist has trained with a number of different therapists across the country to ensure a flexible style with which to offer a very solution based, person centred style of working.
