Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy was developed by Dr John Upledger, an osteopathic physician.

It is a form of bodywork – a gentle subtle hands-on therapy.

CST helps to release tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction thus improving whole body function. It supports the body’s innate ability to balance, restore and heal itself.

The craniosacral system consists of the cranium, spine and sacrum which are connected by a continuous membrane of connective tissue deep inside the body called the dura matar. The dura matar also encloses the brain and central nervous system.

Treatment takes place on a massage table fully clothed. Patients may feel a deep sense of relaxation during a session, perhaps some heat or tingling. Everybody is different so the effects afterwards may also differ. You may feel a sense of calmness, energised or mild discomfort which is temporary as the body is adjusting to the changes; this is also part of the natural healing process.
